Optimization Results

After you click Next and the calculation is complete, HOMER will display the results in table format. If you have included a sensitivity, double-click to view all the feasible simulations that were run for the selected sensitivity case to open the Optimization Results table.

The highest net present value simulation for that specific sensitivity is displayed in the table and includes the following metrics.

  • Configuration and sizing
  • Revenue
  • Cost
  • Project economics
  • Compare Economics

Configuration and sizing metrics

This is analagous to the C-rate, which is the storage power/storage energy capacity. The units for C-rate are 1/hour

Revenue

The Optimization Results table includes a Revenue section that will display the revenue associated with the selected system. Depending on the Application or selected Energy markets, The revenue may include:

  • one or more selected energy markets
  • the capacity and energy revenue from a capacity market,
  • and the revenue from a time of delivery power purchase agreement.

Cost

The Optimization Results table includes a Cost section that displays the capital and operating expenses for the selected simulation.

  • Capital expenses in year 0
  • Operating expenses, annualized

Compare Economics

In the Detailed Results, the compare economics table compares financials between a base case and the proposed system. By default, HOMER will use zero cash flow as a base case. To select a different scenario as the base case, uncheck the default “use zero cash flow as base case” and use the “Select base case” button. This feature enables graphs and tables for analysis of both scenarios and the difference between scenarios. Annual and cumulative toggles present an Annual Cash Flow Chart and a Cumulative Cash Flow Chart, respectively.
